Mp3 portable Player, Ipod nano, that’s the most famous digital mp3 player today that produced by Apple Corp. This is a Mp3 portable player that you can bring it to anywhere you go because the it small size. The 1st generation ipod was announced in the end of 2001. It was announced by Apple several month Itunes release, that the program to convert audio CD to compressed digital audio files.

Tony Fadell is the inventor of the ipod, that’s knows as ipod father. Tony Fadell was a former employee of General Magic and Phillips who wanted to invent a better MP3 player.

After being turned down by RealNetworks and Phillips, Fadell found support for his project with Apple. Tony Fadell went to work for Apple Computers in 2001 as an independent contractor, leading a team of thirty people to develop the new MP3 player.

Tony Fadell also partnered with a company called PortalPlayer who had been working on their own MP3 player to design the software for the new Apple player. Jonathan Ive, Senior Vice President of Industrial Design at Apple Computers led the team that kept perfecting the ipod itself after Fadell’s team had finished their contract.

In the Wired article, Inside Look at Birth of the Ipod, Ben Knauss a former senior manager at PortalPlayer revealed that Fadell was familiar with PortalPlayer’s reference designs for a couple of MP3 players, including one about the size of a cigarette packet. And though the design was unfinished, several prototypes had been built and Fadell recognized the design’s potential.

Within eight months, Tony Fadell’s team and PortalPlayer completed a prototype ipod and Apple polished the user interface adding the famous scroll wheel.

  • Apparently, Tony Fadell is quite a character. He was once asked where he would be in life if he’d grown up before computers were invented. Fadell’s response was “In jail.”
  • What was the first song played using iTunes, Apple’s proprietary software? It was a house-music dance tune called Groovejet (If This Ain’t Love).
  • The first generation ipods had scroll wheels that physically rotated. Post 2003 ipods (third generation) have touch sensitive wheels. Fourth generation (2004) ipods have buttons integrated onto the wheel.
  • The ipod’s wheel technology can measure changes in position greater than 1/1,000th of an inch.

For present, ipod was developed continuously, from the first generation ipod that only can play mp3 format with 1GB capacity, till the newest version ipod that can play mp3 and video format with capacity 16 GB. And the latest version capacity upto 32 GB. So you will not get bored to listen your favorite music and watch your favorites video with this capacity.

In short is stands for MPEG-1 Audio Layer III, which was developed by the Moving Picture Experts’ Group (MPEG) and has been further developed by the Fraunhofer Institute for encoding purposes, although at present some MP3 software developers now have to apply to Fraunhofer to licence any further encoding development for marketing purposes. With this format, music can be saved in smaller size than the older format like music compact disc. Although it is saved in smaller size, but the quality of MP3 format as good as CD format.

MPEG stands for the Motion Picture Experts Group, part of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), charged with creating and publishing standards for various areas of technology, respectively. MPEG standards address audio and video formats used online, in television broadcasts, and in DVD media.

* CD Player. A Compact Disc player (often written as compact disc player), or CD player, is an electronic device that plays audio Compact Discs. CD players are often installed into home stereo systems, car audio systems, and personal computers. They also manufactured as portable devices. Modern units support other formats in addition to CDs, such as DVDs, CD-ROMs with audio files and video CDs. DJs often use players with an adjustable playback sampling rate to alter the pitch of the music program. Many modern CD players also play MP3 CDs. CD playback functionality is available on all modern CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drive equipped computers as well as on DVD players and CD-ROM/DVD-ROM based game consoles.
